We perform windows and doors watertightness test, according to UNI EN ISO 1027:2016 “Windows and doors – Water tightness – Test method”.
Windows and doors watertightness test: aim of the test
The windows and doors watertightness test enables verification of the watertightness of windows and doors already installed in buildings by checking that water does not wet the inner face of the windows and doors, which is designed to remain dry.
Checking the water tightness of windows and doors is of critical importance to ensure their proper installation. Water infiltration damages the inner face of the window frame and surrounding areas, also creating potential damage to the building structure.
We also perform the test as part of the on-site testing for LEED® certification.
Windows and doors watertightness test: how we do it
We carry out windows and doors watertightness testing by dispensing a constant amount of water, which forms a continuous film on the surface to be tested.
The test is conducted under static pressure conditions, which is applied in regular increments at regular time intervals until the maximum established test pressure is reached.
During the test, the specimen is constantly checked, both in fixed and permanently closed parts, to detect any leakage on the inner face.
Windows and doors watertightness test: UNI EN ISO 1027:2016
We perform windows and doors watertightness test, according to UNI EN ISO 1027:2016 “Windows and doors – Water tightness – Test method”.
The standard provides the procedure and instrumentation to be used for the test. UNI EN ISO 12208: 2000 “Windows and Doors – Water tightness – Classification” provides the principles for expressing the results according to the established classification.
